Visual Tool Control – Tool Shadowing foam

We specialise in the design and manufacture of custom cut foam inserts specifically designed to meet your needs. PJ Bowers only offers high quality polyethylene foam available in a wide range of qualities and colours depending on your application.

Our designs are available with a contrasting top layer in either a hard top or soft foam top providing superior protection and easy visualisation of any missing tools ensuring optimal tool control and preventing Foreign Object Damage (FOD).

Tool Trays

Economy Option: For lower machine time and a more affordable tool tray, customers can opt to have tool shapes cut completely through the foam. This is suitable for tool chests were the foam is not removed from the tray.
Soft Top & Base: Our economy tool control trays are made with a PE120 high density top layer for great durability, longevity and visual contrast.
Durability: As tools are placed in and out of their pocket the outer edge is the most susceptible to wear and tear, but still needs the flexibility to be picked with dexterity by the user.
Body: The middle layer is a mid density PE45 foam which has a superior firm cushioning, conforming to shape quality, so that the tool is hugged securely after being easily pressed into it's foam pocket.

Case Inserts

Hard Top & Base: Our premium control trays are made with a thin, hard plastic top and bottom layer for the extreme durability, stability and longevity.
Durability: As tools are placed in and out of their pocket, over time the top edge is the most susceptible to damage or movement, our plastic hard top and base add rigidity to the foam, while the inside of the pockets retain the shape conformance characteristics to secure the tools in place.
Body: The middle layer is a mid density PE45 foam which has a superior cushioning, conforming to shape correctly so the tool is held securely after being placed into it's foam pocket.
Variable Depth: Cases often contain tools that require pockets at different depths, this requires more machine time to produce these variations.

Kitting & Labeling

To further enhance your tool control solution, PJ Bowers offers a full kitting service including custom laser etching of individual part numbers onto any part of the foam tray, hard top and base, each individual tool prior to kitting and labeling of each individual case if required for increased identification and control prior to shipping to any location or port anywhere in the world.
